my condolences

go out to the familyof Michael Spencer, author of the blog iMonk.  Micheal went to be with the Lord yesterday, April 5th after a 4 month battle with cancer.  He was 53.  I’ll admit I did not frequent Michael’s blog but did read it now and again, and remember seeing that he had cancer, but hadn’t realized the severity of his situation.  When I did visit his blog I appreciated his prophetic voice within Evangelicalism (I think he was post evangelical?) to change the direction it is going.  His voice will be missed.

Here is an excerpt from the eulogy on his blog:

Spencer was also widely known in evangelical Christian circles for his web site, “Internet Monk: Dispatches From the Post Evangelical Wilderness” (www.internetmonk.com).  The site was also home to his podcast, Internet Monk Radio. His book, Mere Churchianity: Finding Your Way Back to Jesus-Shaped Spirituality, will be published in September by WaterBrook Multnomah.

May the Lord be the comfort of his wife and family during this difficut time.
